Insurance
Three important areas of insurance for students are summarized below:
Liability Insurance
SWISS TCM UNI recommends that all its students take out personal liability insurance.
AHV, IV, EO
Swiss and foreign students with civil law residence in Switzerland must pay contributions to the AHV, IV, and EO from January 1 after reaching the age of 20. The minimum contribution is currently CHF 496.00. After reaching the age of 25, students pay contributions based on their assets and pension income. Information is available from the compensation offices and their branches: Aargau Compensation Office, https://www.sva-ag.ch.
Illness and accident
Swiss students are adequately insured for illness and accidents in Switzerland with the compulsory insurance coverage of their health insurance. SWISS TCM UNI recommends checking the insurance coverage abroad, for example during a stay in a foreign language or during study trips.
Foreign students are advised to clarify and arrange their insurance coverage in case of illness and accident before starting their studies.
